WILD PALMS OF QUEENSLAND

Living in Queensland, I’m surrounded by palm trees, and after growing up in the UK, I still delight in their sunny, tropical aura. With the first Brisbane Affordable Art Fair approaching, I wanted to create something distinctly Queensland.

I approached these works from the inside out—making organic marks that suggested forms and shapes, then building the sky around them and editing back until they revealed themselves. Using glazes and sanding, the pieces take on a slightly vintage, aged quality—much like a hundred-year- old palm tree.
