A Moment to Ponder is a shared painting experience designed to bring you into the present moment and give your brain a little break from the outside noise.
Over two hours and with a little guidance from me, you will create a table full of painted colour using fresh flowers as your inspiration. Very quickly any nerves will disappear as the playfulness and conversation flows. All skill levels are brought into synergy as the process brings us together and the shift is evident when everyone settles into the ease of painting without pressure.
Who is it suitable for? Friends, colleagues, clients, neighbours, family & community groups. From birthdays to brand launches, the event ideas are endless.
Why is it different? Instead of individual canvases, you all work on the same piece of large paper that covers the whole table. There is no ‘keeping up’ with instructions, no person is left behind. At the end of the session you can choose to keep the piece whole or I will cut up your piece into A3 size pieces to take home as a memento of the day. Plus, the finished piece provides vibrant photos to share.
How does it work? I bring along all the materials and know-how. We use water-colour paints, pastels and pencils. (no rubbers allowed)! You supply the space, tables and chairs, plus beverages, I’ll do the rest.
After a few little warm-up exercises, I’ll be with you all the way to keep it flowing and complete the piece.
Is it messy? No, the table itself is completely covered in heavy, paintable paper. The water-colour paints are provided in small palettes on the table and I will top them up as necessary.

WANT MORE GUIDANCE?
As my practice grew and I began selling work, I was often asked, “Do you teach?” My answer was always no. That changed when I attended an art retreat in Marrakesh, led by Nicholas Wilton (Art2Life). I arrived with questions, one of them being, “Why do I resist teaching?” Over the course of the week, through valuable conversations with artists at all stages of their journey, something shifted. By the end, I made a promise to myself: the next time someone asked if I teach, I would say yes and figure it out from there. And that happened 5 days after getting home!
Since then, I’ve led one and two-day workshops, facilitate small group mentoring sessions in my studio, and offer private lessons. I was thrilled to be the Artist in Residence at the Monet in Paris Brisbane exhibition, where I taught many participants how to “Paint like Monet.”
