This year, I moved to the bay in Brisbane, and being close to the water has had a profound influence on my work for this series.
The initial freedom of marks quickly evolved into suggestions of sky, ocean, horizon, foreshore, and marine craft. I paint intuitively, so it was a surprise to see the shapes and lines that began to emerge. I intentionally kept the palette neutral and minimal to allow the marks to anchor the strong composition, leaving areas of raw canvas exposed to create a sense of calm with a slightly gritty, industrial edge.
Framed: White timber
